There is a purpose to applying for awards: to gain knowledge about developing a well designed and accessible website. This purpose is a function of both the seeker and the giver of awards. As an evaluator for two website award programs, I am a member of and proudly support the Award Community News program (ACN). The Awards Community is a group of people who are involved in award programs. The ACN is their means of communicating the happenings in the community. Not all of the articles are about awards. In her book, Planting Your Family Tree Online (published in 2003), Cyndi Howells, creator of the great resource Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites, referenced and gave compliments to our "Whats New on the Site" page.
