George McCartney, a mariner by profession, was Natalie's
great-great-grandfather.
He was the son of Richard McCartney and Katherine Marsh. Richard and
Katherine were married at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Kent, UK, on
Saturday, 20 October 1810. He was born circa 1814 in Dover, Kent, UK. He
arrived in New South Wales in 1845 where he married Maria Gordon on Friday,
17 January 1845 in Sydney, Australia. They had thirteen children (listed in
the table below). Maria was born in Ireland on Tuesday, 25 February 1823.
When he was approximately 70 years old George died on Monday, 26 November 1883, in Red Bank, New South Wales, Australia. Maria followed him almost 35 years later on Saturday, 13 April 1918, also in Red Bank. She was 95 years old.
