My name is Mary McCartney Bennett. I have decided to see if I could find some facts about my McCartney heritage. I do not know much except for the fact my grandfather's name was Marion Raymond McCartney. He left my grandmother with two children, one of which was a girl that died at the age of 6. My father who was Joseph Cornelius McCartney was raised as an only child. He and his sister Mary were born in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

When my grandfather left, my father was 2 and his sister was 4 they were in an orphan home for a little while then went to live with my grandmother, Gertrude Lynch McCartney Teter and great grandmother Bridget Lynch, who came to this country from Ireland. My grandmother remarried to a Teter after a few years. My grandmother was born in Ireland. My grandfather went by the name of Raymond McCartney.

We believe the photo shows Marion Raymond's father, Raymond. The photo is dated 1870.

If anyone has any information or has suggestions on how I could start finding facts please let me know. It will be greatly appreciated.
