My people, William McCartney and Isabella, had 11 children, 3 were born in Ireland the rest in Scotland around Ayr(?) and Bridgeton. They are in the 1881 census on Whang Street, Beith Ayr.

William was born in Londonderry, Ireland, either in 1847 or 1848. Isabella Dickson was also born in Londonderry, in 1851 or 1852. They were married in Londonderry on December 19, 1871.

Their children were:

• Alexander Dickson McC, born September 24, 1873, in Ireland, probably in Londonderry.
• Amie (Annie) Dickson McC, born October 9, 1875, Port Glasgow, Renfrew, Scotland.
• William Crawford McC, born November 9, 1877, Glasgow.
• Margaret Crawford McC, born and died February 17, 1880, Glasgow
• Ritchard Henry Stocks McC, born May 28, 1882, Glasgow
• Hugh Samuel McC, born March 15, 1885, place unknown, died WW1, 1914
• John Crawford McC, born June 10, 1887 - move to Sydney, Australia with wife Ruby
• Robert Dickson McC, born May 29, 1889, place unknown
• Twins: Isabella Dickson McC. and margaret (Maggie) Crawford McC, born February 26, 1891, Sterling
• Alfred Clarke McC, born November 12, 1895, place unknown
