John McCartney/McArtney is Bronwen's great-great-great-grandfather. He was born in Lanark, Lothian, Scotland (just east of Glasgow) in 1827. He married Agnes McLay on 8 December 1850 in Lanark. Agnes was born on 31 July 1826. John died in 1891 and Agnes followed him twelve years later on 27 December 1903. Agnes died in Lanark.

Agnes and John had five children.

• Robert
         Born: 26 October 1866, Auchinleck, Ayr, Scotland.
         Died: 22 July 1904, Glasgow, Scotland.
• Duncan
         Born: 4 December 1859, Dundonald, Ayr, Scotland.
         Died: 1862, probably Dundonald, Ayr, Scotland.
• Duncan
         Born: 29 April 1862, Dundonald, Ayr, Scotland.
         Died: Unknown.
         Robert's last name was changed on his birth certificate to McArthur.
• Alexander
         Born: 1 July 1864 Stevenston, Ayr, Scotland.
         Died: Unknown.
• Isabella
         Born: 12 November 18??, Auchinleck, Ayr, Scotland.
         Died: Unknown.

I'd like to know if any connections are out there for this essentially Irish Family of immigrants to Scotland and of their subsequent immigration to either Canada or the USA. I have Robert's daughter Allison Muir nee: McArthur BANNATYNE to Australia.
