I am trying to research my G-G-G-grandfather. His name was James McCartney. He married Susan McConnell Hogg. Both James and Susan were born in Ireland. Unfortunately we do not have towns or dates for either of them. They had two sons, both born in Ireland. The first son was William and the second was James. William died 22 May 1908. From census records in London (1861) and his marriage certificate in Edinburgh (1865) we think that he was born c.1839 in Ireland. We don't have a birth date for James.

James McCartney was a bricklayer. His son William came to London with his brother James. We have no record of the father James and his wife Susan coming to either England or Scotland. William traveled to Edinburgh and married Mary Wilson on 1st December 1865. Returned to Marylebone, London where his first son James Thomas McCartney was born on 14th September 1868. The family then returned to settle in Edinburgh thereafter.

Any information will br greatly appreciated.

Thank You!
