Robert McCartney, 1795 - 1836

Robert and Lydia McCartney were Stephen's great-great-great-grandparents. Robert was born in 1795, possibly in Pennsylvania. He died in Cardington County, Ohio. Lydia was born, again possibly in Pennsylvania, in 1795 or 1796. She died in Iowa around 1870. They were married in Pennsylvania, possibly in Westmoreland County, circa 1812. Lydia's maiden name is unknown at this time.

In 1834, Robert and his entire family moved to Washington Township, Morrow County, Ohio. In 1836 they moved to Cardington County, Ohio, where father Robert died. Some time between 1850 and 1870 the family moved to Wilton Junction, Muscatine County, Iowa.

Mary McCartney

Mary McCartney married Ruben Story. When the family moved from Ohio to Iowa, Mary and Ruben remained in Iberia, Ohio.

Paden McCartney

Paden A. McCartney married Erie Ann Lake in Morrow County, Ohio. He enlisted in the Union Army in Company E, 11th Iowa volunteer Regiment in 1861. Erie Ann died in 1873 in Greenwood County, Kansas. Paden married Lydia Miranda Whaley three years later, in 1876.

Sanford McCartney

Sanford McCartney married Martha Whiteside (nee Lockard) in Falls Church, Wilson County, Kansas. She was a widow with a son, Joseph Whiteside. They moved to El Moro, Las Animas County, Colorado. They had two daughters, Anna and Minna Rae, and two sons, Bert and Edgar L.

Edgar L. McCartney

Edgar L. McCartney married Evelyn Baldwin in 1918. They were life-long residents of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Edgar died in 1971 and Martha died in 1993 at age 103.
